New to the #FollowFriday? I’ve got you covered:

How To Participate In #FollowFriday (or #FF):

Step 1: Find people you want to recommend to your friends.

Step 2: Start your message with #Followfriday (or #FF), and then add your friends Twitter IDs there.

So for example: Team #AMHF #FollowFriday: @BJMendelson @EdThomas @Iamhaen @Moderne @leighrowan @arisoncain @greenereveal

-No need to use a comma, but always make sure the @username has no space. If it looks like @ bjmendelson, it won’t work.

Step 3: Tweet away!

If it gets too noisy and you’re using Tweetdeck or Seesmic Desktop, you can filter out the #Followfriday and #FF hash tag. You can also use the Trending Topics area on the sidebar to find new folks you might want to follow.

How To Use A Twitter List For Follow Friday

With Twitter Lists, you now have an alternative to the traditional #followfriday. Now it’s just a matter of adding the people you want to show off for #followfriday to a list and tweeting the link to your list out throughout the day.

Here is the link to our #AMHF Twitter List as an example.

Now THAT Is A Follow Friday ProHow To Be A #FollowFriday Pro:

1.Try to spread out your #followfriday recommendations throughout the day. Tell us about a few people and why we should follow instead of just throwing names out there.

2. Want to help improve the odds someone will follow you? Make sure to have a picture of yourself instead of the default image and have your bio filled out. It also doesn’t hurt to include a website. Don’t have one? How about linking to Soap Box Included?

3. Thank the people who recommend you either privately or publicly. Public preferred, but don’t overwhelm the other people following you with Thank You’s either.

4. Don’t forget to say hi to @Micah, who created the #FollowFriday meme and gave us such an awesome way of finding new friends on Twitter.
