[This post is part of our series, 31 Days To Build A Better Blog. We used Darren Rowse's workbook to get our website, Soap Box Included, up and running. You can follow our series here.]

Progress Report:

I skipped covering Day 6 on this blog. That section has an excellent collection of links you must read, including three awesome posts from one of my hereos, Seth Godin.

Those posts are: First, Ten , How To Get Traffic To Your Blog, and how to send a personal email. Take a moment before reading this to catch up on all of the articles listed for Day 6. They are worth the $19.95 for the workbook.

Day 8 focuses on interlinking your posts. You must do this, so instead of blogging about it, I will work on doing this here and encourage you to take a day or two to connect relevant posts on your blog.

Oh, and I sort of just did a Link post here, although there are far better examples out there. The best folks that do this? Mashable. A good example for day seven and day eight:  Top 10 Social Media Stories Of  The Week.

Here Are 5 Additional Tips On How To Write A Link Post:

1. Always link a blogger’s name to their website.

2. Don’t just list the post headline that you are linking to, tell us why you are linking their first.

3. Yes. You should use the headline the blogger originally used. Headlines are crafted carefully for a lot of reasons (interest, SEO, ect.) so using the headline helps out the blogger you are linking to.

4. Don’t get crazy. Link to five headlines in a link post. Save the other ones for later.

5. Use link posts sparringly. Many popular blogs save them for the weekend or for holidays when traffic dips. It is also worth creating a few link posts, saving them as drafts, and having them ready to go if you can’t blog for whatever reason.
