I know you expected this email yesterday.. . I had twitted question how long would you work at a company for free to help it recover from downward spiral, while earning partial partnership. :) -Darla
Hi Darla,
This is one of those “it depends” situations. If you’re pretty sure (not just think) there is an opportunity for a large raise, partnership, ect. Then if I was in your situation, I would probably stick it out for six months or so. At that point, you should have a clear picture of what’s going on at the job.
That said, I have to stress that you take your entire financial situation into account before making any sort of decision. How many bills do you have to pay? What about other financial commitments? Can you budget, right now, for the six months it will take to tought it out? I’d encourage you to see a financial planner and just make sure everything is in good shape.
I’m an optimist, so my gut is always saying go for it, but that doesn’t work for everyone. In a situation like yours, no matter what path you choose, making sure your finances can absorb a six month commitment is important. If not, it might be time to explore all of your options.
Advice disclaimer: This is just our opinion on the matter and you should always discuss issues like this with the appropriate parties before making an informed decisison.
