I caught this story on Jesse Stay’s Stay N’ Alive (Twitter Suspending Accounts In Droves) this morning. Essentially, a bunch of folks on an image board I used to frequent thought it’d be fun to screw with Twitter’s trending topics. Usually I enjoy these antics, but not so much on Twitter.
Twitter’s response, in conjunction with a few other issues they’re dealing with, lead to regular users accounts being frozen.
Since this is not the first time this has happened:
Here’s What To Do If Your Twitter Account Is Suspended
“Weep openly.” -eD Thomas
1. Relax. The recent account suspension was a human error. This can and will happen. We have never had a popular service dealing with real-time search issues like this. Patience is needed.
2. Check the Twitter Status Blog and the Twitter Support Forums for the latest
3. File a ticket to contest your suspension. If after a few hours your account is not back.
4. You were following the rules, right? Here’s the Twitter Rulebook
5. Still waiting? Did you check all of the above items, you are following the rules, and have not yet had your account restored?
May I interest you in Friendfeed?
No? Ok. Then check your request status. If the ticket is gone. Wait 24 hours. Then it’s time to open a new account.
