Over at A Million High Fives’ official website, I announced my five step plan to raise $100,000 in two months through Twitter. Each day I will check in with you here about my progress as I go through the steps.
How Did I Decide Who To Unfollow?
Step one involves me going through the list of people I’m following and clean it out. If its spam, a blog feed, or meets any of the conditions below, the account has been unfollowed:
1. Your last update was in April (or earlier).
2. If you have no updates (or just one)
3. If you are not following me back (I attempt to send a DM. If Twitter says you’re not following, I unfollow).*
*Unless you’re really interesting.
It will be interesting to see if these numbers reflect the larger group as we dig deeper. I will keep you posted.
Today’s Twitter Stats
-I unfollowed 85 accounts today that met the above criteria.
-I contacted five people who had websites in their URL field and asked if they would be willing to contribute a dollar.
Since it has been only an hour since I sent these emails, I can’t report back as to whether or not it was a success.
I can tell you that one of them did contribute $10 (Thank you @bostonmarketer)
-I contacted two people about potential guest posts on their blogs about the Great Wall Of Twitter. One of those emails was bounced back to me.
-66 accounts had their accounts set to private.
-Many people use the URL field to put their Twitter URL. Huh?
-A lot of people are still figuring Twitter out, so I sent a couple of them a link to our How To Use Twitter section to help them.
-Finally, I sent 3 Facebook friend requests to those with their Facebook URL in their profile and on their website.
*Note: I’m not yet following everyone back, but I will be. So I hope you will pardon me as it will take some time to catch up. I am doing everything manually so it takes forever.
