[Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on SBI are different than the rest of the week. Since I don't work on these days (and I don't think you should either) I re-publish excerpts from Turbulence In The Airplane Bathroom and have some fun with random posts like the one below. We'll be back to business as usual on Monday.]
About @BJMendelson (Because this way, if someone asks me a personal question I can just send them here!)
Height: 6′3″
Weight: 150lbs
Measurements: What are the measurements for a skeleton?
Ethnic Background: Mostly Russian. A quarter of which is questionable thanks to the History Channel’s Washington Generals.
Place of Residence: Glens Falls, NY, where nothing happens.
High School: Monroe-Woodbury Senior High School, Central Valley, NY
College: SUNY Alfred / SUNY Potsdam
Graduate School: SUNY Potsdam for two semesters, UAlbany for one semester (so far). I’m taking a break so I can work on A Million High Fives.
Occupation: President Fearless Leader of Earth’s Temporary Solution
Marital Status: Married.
Siblings: Eric, Brad, Melissa, Matthew, and Keith.
Life Goals:
1) Move to LA, get steady acting gigs as “the ugly guy”. It worked for Steve Buscemi …
2) To have one of my books make the New York Times Best Seller List or actually write for the Times.
3) To retire at 30
Favorite Food: Pizza. The problem: I’m lactose intolerant. Nature is cruel.
Favorite Drink: Jack and Coke
Least Favorite Drink: I’m not big on European beer … or soccer.
Favorite Hobbies: I try not to have hobbies. I have this project, and time when I’m not doing this project or anything. I’m a big believer in not doing anything when I’m not working.
Favorite Practical Joke: When we were producing the television show, I would frequently change the words on the teleprompter without telling the actors.
Favorite Indoor Activity: Reading a book. No eyestrain, no obsessive compulsive like impulse to chronically check on things. People who think print will go away completely are idiots.
Favorite Outdoor Activity: See above but put “on a park bench” after it.
Favorite Website: I use Google Reader (My shared items), so I don’t visit many websites. I guess Twitter would be it because I use it though Google Chrome.
Favorite TV Show: The Venture Brothers.
Favorite TV Character: Bill O’Reilly
Favorite Movie: I always liked “Face / Off”
Favorite Saying: From Fight Club: “That’s clever. How’s that working out for you?”
Favorite Word(s): Fail (before it became cool), so now it’s “Bullshit!” I say it with the same dramatic flair The Tick says, “Spoon!”
Favorite Holiday: Jewish Halloween. It requires you to be drunk!
Favorite Pro Athlete: Former New Jersey Net Richard Jefferson, he once bought a fan a new (very expensive) wheel chair after it was destroyed in an accident.
Favorite Team(s): The New York Yankees (in the AL) and the LA Dodgers (in the NL) for baseball and the Giants in the NFL (again, before it became cool to be a Giant fan.) For what it’s worth, I am a New York Islanders fan, but it’s hard to acknowledge their existence.
Favorite Celebrity: @Alyssa_Milano is pretty cool and actually talks to the people following her on Twitter, so she would be it.
If you can sleep with one celebrity who would it be? Amber Stevens
Favorite Music Video: I can’t remember the last time I saw a music video. Thanks MTV.
Favorite Non-Fiction Book: I read a lot, so the most recent non-business book I enjoyed was “The Year Of Living Biblically” by A.J. Jacobs.
Favorite Fiction Book: “The Dark Knight Returns”
Favorite Children’s Book: “Daddy Drinks Because Of You” and the other “10 Great Books For (Traumatizing) Children”
Favorite Smurf: I was always a “Snorks” guy.
Favorite Number: 77
Favorite Month: September, nothing beats the first week back at college. Let me tell you, it’s sorely missed.
Scariest Experience: Amanda and I visited the civil war monument in Tallahassee, Florida, and it started to pour. I have an abnormal fear of lightning, and so we ran to the car and started to drive. We took a wrong turn into the park and got lost on the back roads. No GPS. Lots of places that looked like you would be shot if you came out of your car. The roads were flooded. This was one of two incidents on the road were I felt we were going to die.
I will go back and add questions as time goes on, but for the moment, these are the ones I get asked most often.
